PLANS FOR MORE NEW OPEN SPACES IN ROTHERHAM TOWN CENTRE

Residents are invited to view and comment on plans to transform the look of College Street via an online information event this week.

The public realm on College Street will be redeveloped as part of the Town Centre Masterplan and follows on from the works currently underway on Bridgegate.

Rotherham Council’s Cabinet Member for Jobs and the Local Economy, Cllr Denise Lelliott, said: “It’s great to see the public realm scheme coming to fruition. The works on Bridgegate are really progressing well and the plans for College Street show our commitment to creating an attractive, modern space that continues to support the regeneration of the town centre.”

The improvement works will include the introduction of 11 new short-stay pay & display parking bays as well as new paving, lighting and street furniture. Works are due to commence spring 2021.

You can view and comment on the plans online at www.rotherham.gov.uk/town-centre-developments from Wednesday 3 to Saturday 5 March 2021.

Plans for phase two of the public realm works, which will include Effingham Street and Howard Street, will be available towards the end of the year.
