Police in Barnsley are appealing for information following a collision yesterday evening.
At 5:55pm on Sunday 2 May, police attempted to pull over a car in the Brierley area when it failed to stop for officers.
The car, a black Peugeot, was pursued by police towards Park Road.
At the junction of Park Road and Brierley Road the Peugeot was involved in a collision with a second car, a silver Ford.
Three occupants of the Peugeot including the driver fled the scene on foot. The remaining occupant, the front seat passenger, a man in his 50s, suffered life-threatening injuries and was taken to hospital via ambulance where he remains in a critical condition.
The four occupants of the Ford suffered minor injuries in the collision.
Enquiries are ongoing and police are keen to hear from anyone who may have witnessed the incident.
